Firefly Montessori is committed to eco-friendly practices that are safe, sustainable, and best for our environment and our children. We reduce, reuse and recycle whenever possible and use environmentally-safe and gentle cleaning supplies. Our food is organic, minimally processed and of the highest quality ingredients.
Our Outdoor Space
We believe that fresh air is food for growing minds, which is why we make it a priority to go outside every day, in all seasons. Our weekly trips to nearby Fernhill Park not only give us a chance to connect with nature, but also allow us to build relationships with our neighbors and strengthen our sense of community. The four-block walk to the park is an adventure in itself, offering countless opportunities for outdoor exploration, nature observation, and developing gross motor skills. In addition to our park visits, we make full use of our spacious backyard—gardening, sliding, running, riding bikes, playing ball, and sailing the seven seas in our boat are just some of the activities that keep us active, curious, and connected to the world around us.

We serve organic, whole food snacks that are fresh, nutritious, and thoughtfully prepared to support growing bodies and minds. Our snacks feature seasonal fruits and vegetables, offering a variety of flavors, textures, and colors that are both delicious and nourishing. We believe that healthy eating habits start early, so we focus on providing food that is minimally processed, free from artificial ingredients, and rich in natural nutrients. In addition, our program includes composting all appropriate food waste, allowing students to actively participate in the full food cycle. This hands-on approach fosters environmental awareness, responsibility, and a deeper appreciation for where food comes from.
